Change of Command

At ten o'clock on Friday, the tenth of October 2008, Commanding Officer, USS TENNESSEE (SSBN 734)(GOLD) will host the Change of Command and Crew Combination Ceremony at which Commander Rhett R. Jaehn, United States Navy will be relieved by Commander James W. Jenks, United States Navy at the World War II Pavilion Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia.

In the event of inclement weather, the alternative location for the ceremony will be Naval Submarine Base Chapel.

The reception will be held immediately following the ceremony at Club of Kings Bay Community Center (Bldg 1039). Party of seven Greater Chattanooga Council, NLUS plan to attend this important event.

Gold and Blue Crews are being combined in advance of USS TENNESSEE transiting to Norfolk, VA to enter shipyard for overhaul and refueling.

Many council members met CDR Jenks in June 2007 during "Navy Week" at Council reception held at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. He had just assumed command of BLUE crew on June 1, 2007. GOLD crew captain, CDR Jaehn and eleven of his crew were hosted at a breakfast at Signal Mountain Country Club in October 2007. Commander Jaehn's next assignment will be Tactical Training Group, Atlantic. It is located at Dam Neck, VA.
